There is nothing in a credit card number that can verify anyone’s age – that’s why you can’t use a credit card as proof to buy alcohol in stores or get into bars. Any lady on CL who asks you to visit and/or sign up on another site is just trying to get money out of you. Don’t fall for it! The real women on CL won’t ever ask you to go somewhere else (except for their Facebook profile or similar). You are asked to enter your credit card info for ‘age verification’. But when you click to process the transaction you get a screen that says your credit card is no good for age verification… an obvious phishing scam. Also, the person’s name on the email I got does not match the one on the verification site. The scammers try to convince people in a legitimate and harmless looking email, to visit a site. The site is suppose to be some kind of Age Verification service for online safety. This scam targets Craigslist users and attempts to trick them into giving up their credit card number on some fake verification site. Keep your credit card safe, it is a rip off. The worst part of the whole process is that it’s completely automated on the scammers end. You’ll send an email and a program will continuously send you replies of different variations, trying to get you to hit the site and make the payment. I respond to real emails, from real girls with my phone number, tell them to call me, the ones that don’t weren’t interested anyway.
